Featuring the body of work, “Cast As A Woman :: New Symmetry”, by artist Beth Simon, this fundraising exhibit also showcases a series of anonymous photographs in which both men and women exposed themselves for a worthy cause.
“Cast As A Woman :: New Symmetry” is a series of sculptural works created by Beth Simon while she worked through a ductal carcinoma is situ diagnosis, from diagnosis to mastectomy to healing. Comprised of at least 20 life-sized sculptural torsos, this body of work documents life changes and the process of healing.
Not only does this exhibit address the realities of breast cancer, it also normalizes the conversation about breasts. Several women and men removed their shirts, allowing themselves to be photographed candidly in an effort to raise money, awareness, and to facilitate the opportunity for candid conversation.
Due to the issue of nudity, this show is not recommended for small children or for anyone who may feel uncomfortable with physical exposure. Please consider how brave the warriors & survivors of breast cancer are when participating in this experience.
