I draw because I have to. Art is a compulsion, a drive that I can’t shake.
It has been this way since as far back as I can remember. My family jokes that I was born with a crayon in each hand;
this is probably not too far from the truth
Simply put, art makes me happy. Creating art is even better.
Inspiration seems to strike at the most random of times. Listening to a song, brushing my teeth, reading a book, laying in bed in the middle of the night with my thoughts racing. Smells, colors sounds all form images in my head that sink their teeth in and won’t let go until the thought is formed on paper.
My latest inspiration for my works is the stark balancing act that is life and nature. Nature, and the human condition, is at once beautiful and horrifying. I suppose that is the main theme I am trying to portray with my work: A thing doesn’t need to be pretty to be beautiful.
